Etsy Shop: Sew Amore

Etsy shop, Sew Amore, is now one of my favorite shops! Not only does Elizabeth (the wonderful shop owner) have very nice things, but it's really inexpensive too! If I can get inexpensive jewelry and accessories, I'm totally in! I asked Elizabeth if she would like to do an interview with me and she said yes! So, here is the interview (she did a great job answering the questions!).

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Elizabeth: My name's Elizabeth. I'm from Hannibal, Missouri which is famous for Mark Twain, the unsinkable Molly Brown (from the Titanic! ooh, ahh), about the stories Mark Twain wrote about (Tom Sawyer, etc). I've lived in Missouri most of my life (I've also lived in the Philippines and Virginia!) I first began sewing when I took a home ec class in highschool and loved it, but never had a sewing machine to use outside of school. It wasn't until I began a job working at Joann Fabrics over a year ago that my passion for crafts was found once again. I began sewing and joined etsy to sell zipper pouches and purses. Shortly after joining Etsy and creating a shop, I began to make jewelry and have been addicted since! I'm still learning but loving every minute of it and have a crazy obsession with the jewelry department of any store. Ha!

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Elizabeth: I probably literally only began making pouches a week or two before I opened my shop. I opened with only a few pouches listed, but became a regular in the etsy chat rooms and became friends with other etsians who showed me a whole other world of things i could also make, thus introducing me to jewelry making. I've been making jewelry since November of last year and you can really tell I've learned alot since then by looking at my sold items page!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Elizabeth: I had seen other shops using the name 'sew' in adorable ways and thought it was perfect for my shop since i was originally only planning to sell sewn items such as quilts, pouches, bags, etc. I pronounce it Sew Uh-more...but realized aftering googling it (and after having already made my shop) that the word amore should be pronounced uh-more-ray..haha oh well :)

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Elizabeth: I love being able to experiment with different ways of making each type of jewelry item and showing the world what I've created. With my jewelry pieces, it's nice to be able to freely create whatever comes to my mind, knowing it won't just sit around in my house somewhere. :) Also, I have a ton of fun when it comes to shipping out an item. It's like wrapping Christmas presents!

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

Elizabeth: I am pretty much inspired by nearly everything. Sometimes I'll see a cute top and can just imagine what sort of earrings would go great with it. Sometimes I'll be watching a tv show, see a pair of earrings on a character and think, "I could doll that up so much more!".

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Elizabeth: My favorite item is probably the Princess Peach necklace & earrings set. I love how its bright and fun, and super girlie!

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Elizabeth: I've just added adjustable button rings and stud earrings to my shop this week. I plan on having a huge selection (probably more than any other selection i currently have). It's super fun to make and i just love how they look.

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Elizabeth: Right now I am having a month long sale until Mothers Day (May 9th 2010) where you can save 15% on nearly everything in my shop. It excludes shipping and destash. It's a great deal if you purchase a bracelet & a pair of earrings from my shop in the same order, because you receive a free pair of earrings with your choice of color and you get to save even more when buying sets! :)

ME: Are there any other places on the net we that we can find you?

Elizabeth: You can find me on facebook, twitter, & blogspot. Following any of these sites is helpful to know when I am having sales, giveaways and when I add new items to my shop!

Please go check out Sew Amore! She has such cute things and I know there is something there you will fall in love with! Once I get a little bit of extra money, I'm probaby going to but one of her awesome pouches! A big thanks to Elizabeth for interviewing with me and sharing her wonderful shop with us!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ebony Haywood is a poet. In 1996, her poem, There Was Once a Potato, won first place in the Los Angeles branch of the NAACP ACT-SO poetry competition. She enjoys writing clever and humerous poetry in the tradition of her favorite authors,  Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein.

MY THOUGHTS
As you already know I have 2 boys ages 4 and 5. They LOVED this book! Everything was big and bright which kept their attention! Plus, the rhyming excited them. They are just starting to ask about things rhyming and this helped them out a lot. I read it the first time, and they automatically made me read it again!  Also, it was simple enough for them to understand the meaning of the book. I asked them what it was about and they were able to tell me without any trouble. The book had a really great message. It basically says not to fight, just work together. Having 2 boys, so close in age, this was great for them!

MY RATING
10/10
I found nothing to complain about!

BUY IT
The book can be found on Ebony's site, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble!

Sun Sauce Review & Giveaway

During the summer, my husband and I (the boys spend the summer with their dad :( ) spend the majority of our time at the lake. We own 2 jetskiis and love being on the water. Which means I spend a lot of time in a bikini. Well, winter has just come to an end and summer is creeping up. I have fair skin and my tan from last year has faded. In other words, I am now as white as a ghost...well, WAS as white as a ghost.

I had the opportunity to try Sun Sauce! I was sent a 12oz. bottle of their Sunless Lotion.

About the product:
Now you can enjoy a dark rich Tan without a need for UV light. This lotion will allow you to choose the intensity of your tan and to maintain the color level you have chosen. Applies easily and delivers exceptional results when used as directed. This is not a bronzer or a dye. Natural tan begins developing in 2 to 3 hours. If a darker tan is desired, reapply 3 to 4 hours after initial application.

I put in on yesterday when I got out of the shower. A little over an hour later, I was starting to see the color. By the time I woke up this morning, I could see a huge difference! The color it leaves is pretty natural looking. Not too orange like other sunless tanning products. The directions say to apply evenly over body and face, use sparingly on heels, ankles, knees and elbows. I did my best to make sure it was even. I had very little steaking. The only place I had a little streaking was on the back side of one of my arms. I must not have rubbed it around enough. The only other place I had an issue with was on one of my ankles. I tried to keep it off of my ankles, due to the directions telling me to, but I got some on there. Next time I'll be sure to be a little more careful.

Due to my fair skin, this is a great alternative for me. My family has a history of skin cancer (which I am starting to develope), so sunless tanning is the way I need to go. Sun Sauce smells nice, and works great. I would definitely recommend the product!

~Buy It~
The sunless products start at $28 a bottle. A much cheaper alternative to skin cancer! Go HERE to check out the full line!

~Win It~
Sun Sauce has agreed to sponsor a wonderful giveaway for my readers! Twenty (20) of my lucky readers will win a bottle of their Facial Recognition!

About the product:
Give your Face the Recognition it deserves with the ultra rich facial care lotion. Facial Recognition combines the finest skin firming and wrinkle reducing ingredients in a moisture rich formula that absorbs quickly into delicate facial tissue leaving it healthy and hydrated.

The Cream Perfume Company Review & Giveaway

When I got the email saying that I was going to be reviewing for The Cream Perfume Company, I didn't know what to expect. I may be a little behind times, because I had never heard of a cream perfume. When I recieved the package and opened it up, I was pleasantly surprised! I recieved:

Travel Size Coconut Vanille Lotion

2.5oz TRAVEL SIZE. Premium and naturally derived oils and extracts from nature combined with premium French certified organic essential oils to combat dehydrated, sore, inflamed and damaged skin.
This has a different smell when you first put it on. It smells kind of 'spicy' at first. Weird, I know being that it's Coconut Vanille. But, once it sets in, the coconut really starts to come out. Since it's travel size, it's perfect to throw in your purse, and small enough to take on a plane!

Lavender Body Moisturizer

6oz. Premium and naturally derived oils and extracts from nature combined with premium French certified organic essential oils to combat dehydrated, sore, inflamed and damaged skin.

I really liked the Lavender! There is something a little 'minty' about it. Sweet and a little green smelling.

Rose Body Moisturizer

6oz. Premium and naturally derived oils and extracts from nature combined with premium French certified organic essential oils to combat dehydrated, sore, inflamed and damaged skin.

I'm not too fond of Rose smelling things. This, on the other hand, isn't that bad. It's not too strong or overpowering.

Now on to my favorite part!

ORGANIC Vanilla rêve

Fresh top notes of vanilla and fruity mandarin with apricot, followed by heart notes of jasmine and violet. Ends with an adorable combination of vanilla and mild honey expression. 10g / .35oz

This one I didn't really care for. Wasn't sweet enough. Just didn't hit my nose the right way. I think I'll pass it on to my mom. It smells like something she would like.

Apricot Chypre

A crisp, fruity fusion of black currant, apricot, green notes, lilly of the valley and raspberry. Closes with jasmine, sandalwood and musk. 10g / .35oz

Of the three cream perfumes I recieved, this one was by far my favorite. To me, it smells expensive! I've been putting it on everyday!

Mango poudré

Truly seductive scents of mango and cassis balanced with timeless jasmin and candy sugar accord. A tropical favorite with sandalwood, musk and vanilla. 10g / .35oz

This one was really nice too. I've put it on a few times. I like mango a lot, so this one suited me well.

My overall impression of the Cream Perfume Company is great! Neither the lotions, or the cream perfumes were oily, and the smells were all pretty nice. The cream perfumes were nice because you don't have to use a lot, and you can smell it all day. Usually I can smell perfume for a little while, then the smell fades. The cream perfumes don't seem to fade. That's a big plus for me. I don't want to have to keep reapplying perfume all day.
