Etsy Shop: Princessipal & Giveaway

I love jewelry that's simple, yet elegant. Something I can wear any time of the day and still look good. I ran across the Etsy shop Princessipal the other day. When I started looking at her jewelry, I realized that that's what it was. Simple, yet elegant. That's me! :) I was really impressed and started thinking that someone who makes this wonderful jewelry deserves some bloggy love!

I contacted the shop owner, Becky, and she was thrilled to work with me. She then sent me a beautiful necklace that was called 'Cleo', and a little apple charm! That very day I got it, I put it on, and went to the store. I had people commenting on it, asking where I got it, or 'wow that's really pretty!'. Ok, yeah, I'm totally sold on Princessipal's jewelry! Here is the necklace I got:

The jewelry I recieve was very well made and packaged nicely. Ha, although at first, I couldn't figure out the clasp on the necklace! It turned out to be really easy to unlatch, and I felt like a dork! :) Thanks for the help Becky!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Becky: My career is in education. My Etsy shop is my hobby, really. I love “girly” things, and I am sort of a princess at heart. I am also a principal. Thus: Princessipal!

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Becky: I’ve always loved to create. I’ve done many different things from sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, wood carving, (a few of my pieces are on my etsy site), stained glass, interior design, etc. A few years ago, I started making lanyards for the teachers in my school to encourage them to wear their ID badges. It sort of blossomed. Other schools began to order some of my things, then health clinics, and hospitals, and one day my daughter decided to put some of my items on an etsy site for me. It was a bit tense at first, but when I started to have some success, I found that I really enjoy doing it.

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Becky: I add new things to my shop almost daily. I can’t seem to stick to just one style, or design. Most of my things are one-of-a-kind pieces, and there’s usually something for almost everyone’s taste. I love to keep learning.; I started with beading, then I went to setting gem stones, then polymer clay bead making, then metals (silversmith, mostly) and now I do a bit of everything all at once. Someday I might try making lamp worked glass beads, or something like that. I’m never reluctant to try something new.

Mineral Basics Review & Giveaway

Through high school, I never really wore makeup. I just didn't care back then. But, now that I've gotten older, I love putting it on. I love to see my face transform from ordinary to extrodinary. Haha, that sounds corny, but I mean it! Oh, and let me tell you, all makeup IS NOT created equal!

In steps Mineral Basics. They create their makeup for people who have skin issues like acne, rosacea, large pores, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture and tone, dark under-eye circles and more. I'm guessing I would fal in there with slight acne (from time to time), and uneveness. I have freckles, so yeah, it's uneven. :)

A little from Mineral Basics:
We use only natural, healthy ingredients in our products…never synthetic dyes, fragrances, chemicals, surfactants, mineral oil, preservatives or other such unnecessary ingredients. We believe in taking care of our bodies and the environment. We began our mineral makeup company in hopes to spread natural, clean products to others. In a world where most companies are just out to make a profit,at the expense of your health and well being, we choose to offer high-quality products, commitment to excellent service, and honesty in all we do.

Somthing that will make you look pretty, is 'green', AND good for you? Wow! That's really nice!

I was sent 15 samples. Everything from multi-use colors to illuminating concealer to concealers to blush to finishing dust. I was amazed. The colors were wonderful! There was something 'out there' like

"Secret-Potion"

And something very subtle, like

"Mer-Tresses"

I used a little bit of everything. I couldn't complain. I didn't feel like I was wearing a lot of makeup, and it never bothered my skin. They all went on really easy too. My favorite was the Illuminating Concealer. It evened out my eyes and gave them a really pretty glow. Since I only got a 'sample' of that, I think I will probably order some more! I started reading about it, and it's made using real crushed pearls! I've never heard of anything like that! Read HERE to learn more about it and the other benefits it offers!

According to the Mineral Basics website, some mineral makeup companies actually include a nasty little non-essential ingredient called bismuth oxychloride, which irritates bare skin and causes many people to break out. Uh-huh, I told you all makeups weren't created equal! Go HERE to learn some more differences.

I am so overly-impressed with Mineral Basics. Who knew that makeup was so complex, and that it could be so good for your skin!?

~Win It~
Want some of this wonderful makeup? One(1) of my readers is going to win 15 samples of Mineral Basics! You can choose your own samples from HERE, or do what I did and let them pick for you!

Etsy Shop: Kiss Kiss i luv this Review & Giveaway

OMG! I am so in love with the Etsy shop Kiss Kiss i luv this! Trica, the shop owner, sent me the Owlet Note Card Set for review! They are soooo adorable! I'd say, almost too cute to send! I want to keep them and display for people to see! Although, I'm thinking about sending a little note to my mom on one, just so that she can see it! They have baby woodland owls on them that are made from wool felt and different colorful papers! Even the eyes get a little love! They are made from little buttons of sorts! It's all well put together and beautifully done! I am VERY impressed!
I did an interview with Tricia to learn more about her and her wonderful shop! As you can tell, I LOVE doing the interviews with the Etsy shops! Anybody who is talented enough to have an Etsy shop, deserves to be showcased. I know I like to here the answers and how the stor came about. So, without further ado, here is the interview...

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Tricia: While I am originally from Kentucky and have lived in many other states as well, I have enjoyed living in sunny Scottsdale, AZ for the past 9 years ! So, this is now my home ! I truly Love the Sonoran Desert ! I have 3 grown children who inspire me every day. I have 2 nieces and a sister who also run ETSY shops and who introduced me to this wonderful venue !

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Tricia: A couple of years ago I began to dabble in the idea and started making greeting cards. I have always been attracted to stationery, greeting cards, note cards and paper of all sorts. I also Love nature-inspired items, garden themes, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, bees....basically anything with wings !!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Tricia: Well, it was about the feeling that I had for ETSY !! I love the whole concept of handmade one of a kind items because they come from the heart and are not mass produced. Hence the name, Kiss Kiss I luv this...It was because of my love for being able to make handmade goods and being able to easily market them through ETSY.com

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Tricia: I love being able to share my things with others and ETSY makes it so easy to do that.

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

Tricia: Knowing that others can use these cards to express their feelings to others through a written message inspires me.

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Tricia: My favorite items have always been my owl cards ! A few years ago 2 owls came to live in a tree outside my kitchen window. I named them oooo and ahhh ! They are just so amazing and seem to poccess some sort of magical mystical wisdom !

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Tricia: People have told me that they have framed some of the cards, so possibly selling them as framed pieces is on the horizon !

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Tricia: People cherish getting a hand written note from the heart, especially in a world full of plenty of technology and Bills in the mail

ME: Are there any other places on the net we that we can find you?

Tricia: I am on Twitter under the name SwirlsofJoy. I also have a storefront on Facebook..You can find me by searching for Patricia Holloway Best or Tricia Best

So, there you have it folks! This woman is talented, and truely enjoys sharing her work with others! I, personally, have never seen note cards this nice and unique! You really should BUY some and experience them for yourselves!

~Win It~
Tricia is very graciously giving one(1) of my lucky readers the chance to win this VERY pretty Blue Bird Note Card Set! This set of note cards includes: 4 cards with 4 matching envelopes as well as a color co-ordinated writing pen! Awesome!

Friends

Here is another one that I wrote. I wrote it for my lifelong best friend Carlos, who now lived over 600 miles away from me, and I haven't seen him since June of '07! Miss you Carlos!

Friends

You are there for me
I am there for you
We share
We share something that can't be defined
A bond that is unexplainable
The simplest things bring us joy and happiness
We sit and talk
In our own world
About the little things that bother us
Or the deepest things we can't tell anybody else
Whatever it is we listen and consult eachother
We don't worry about what we think about eachother
We know without words
We finish eachothers sentences
And read eachothers minds
We laugh even though it may not be funny
And cry even though it may not be sad
Why?
Because we can
Because we are friends
We make plans to do something
Even though we don't do that one thing
We find a way to have fun with whatever we do
Just being in eachothers presence makes it all worth while
Being with eachother we make memories
Memories that will last a lifetime
And these memories, these are ours
Only we share them
They make no sence to anybody but us
They only have meaning to us
Something we can look back on
And say 'hey remember that time...?'
We learn from eachother
And teach eachother
But what we are really doing is knowing the value of life

Little Sister

This is something I wrote to my little sister years and years ago. Just thought I'd share it.

Little Sister

Come little sister
Take my hand
Lets walk
Lets talk
Have I ever hurt you?
Yeah, I know I have
You just make me so mad
You yell and scream
It makes me boil over
And I spill out all over you
I raise my hand
I hit you
For a split second everything stops
You look up
Tears in your eyes
Realizing what I've done I try to apologize
You say you hate me and run away
I feel so bad
I keep replaying it in my mind
The look in your eyes
They say...why?
I'm sorry
I really am
I don't mean to hurt you
Later you come back
I still sit where you left me
You hug me and say it's ok
You understand
You know I didn't mean to do it
I only wanted to teach you
I am your big sister and I know you'll listen to me
You learn from me
But what you don't know is that I learn from you too
You are my best friend
Whether you know it or not
And I love you more than you know
It's the love of a sister
A big sister
You look up at me and smile
You know
You've known all along
Then you say
Come big sister
Take my hand
It's time to go

ToweLocs Review

I bet the majority of you mothers out there have the same problem I do. Your child brushes their teeth, or washes their hands, pulls the towel down to dry off, then leaves the towel on the counter/floor. Later you go and find it, only to find that it's still wet. Most of the time, you need to wash it after that. Oh joy! More laundry! Do you sence the sarcasm?

That's why when I recieved a ToweLocs in the mail, I was thrilled! I opened up the package, and found a pretty blue ToweLocs, along with instructions on how to use it. My first though was, 'this will match perfectly in the boys' bathroom, and I need to get it in there NOW!'. So, that's what I did. It was very simple to put on, and looked great with the colors of their bathroom.

Since then, I don't have to go in there, at least 3 times a day, to make sure the towel is hung and drying. That's a blessing to me. One less thing to think about. Plus, it's held on there good enough that they wont be able to pull the ToweLocs off. Score again!

TOWELOCS STORY

ToweLocs® was created by Cindy Sawyer, a mom who was repeatedly frustrated every time her hand towels fell off the towel bar and when her kitchen towels did the same upon opening her oven door. This was also compounded when her two young children, Keelan and Skylar, could not help themselves and leave their hand towels on the bathroom floor after each use. As you may imagine, this was an everyday event in any typical household.

So she wanted to find a way to not only secure her towels in their rightful place but to also do it with some style. This sparked the invention of ToweLocs® . After numerous prototypes and designs, she decided on a final product that exists today. She was inspired to market her invention when she received multiple compliments on what has now become a practical household product and how it accentuated her bath and kitchen towels.
Not only is ToweLocs® functional it is also decorative.
We hope you enjoy ToweLocs® !

If you have problems keeping your towels where they are supposed to go, I strongly suggest you get a ToweLocs! It will make your life a little bit easier! They range from $13.99-$19.99. Go BUY one!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jill Ammon Vanderwood is the 2008 Writer of the Year for the League of Utah Writers. She is the author of four children’s books: Through the Rug; Through the Rug 2: Follow that Dog; Stowaway: The San Francisco Adventures of Sara the Pineapple Cat, and she hopes to build environmental awareness with her first nonfiction, kid's book—What’s it Like Living Green: Kids Teaching Kids by the Way They Live. This book is the winner of the National Indie Excellence Award; The Teen Development Award and the Best Books 2009 Award. Jill grew up in Oregon, the third of eleven children. Jill and her husband Bill are parents of four and grandparents of six. They make their home in Utah. Jill loves going on adventures with her grandchildren, she loves to travel and tries to write something every day.

MY THOUGHTS
The book says for ages 9 and up. My boys are 4 and 5. It was still good though. I'm going through and reading it to them and expaining things the best I can to them. They really are learing from it. I think it's good to teach your children about living a more green lifestyle so that they and the generation after them can live in a more beautiful and healthy world. The book has 141 pages filled with lots of information. There are wonderful stories of kids who have made a difference. It really is inspiring.

BUT IT
The book sells on Amazon for $14.99

Etsy Shop: Sew Amore

Etsy shop, Sew Amore, is now one of my favorite shops! Not only does Elizabeth (the wonderful shop owner) have very nice things, but it's really inexpensive too! If I can get inexpensive jewelry and accessories, I'm totally in! I asked Elizabeth if she would like to do an interview with me and she said yes! So, here is the interview (she did a great job answering the questions!).

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Elizabeth: My name's Elizabeth. I'm from Hannibal, Missouri which is famous for Mark Twain, the unsinkable Molly Brown (from the Titanic! ooh, ahh), about the stories Mark Twain wrote about (Tom Sawyer, etc). I've lived in Missouri most of my life (I've also lived in the Philippines and Virginia!) I first began sewing when I took a home ec class in highschool and loved it, but never had a sewing machine to use outside of school. It wasn't until I began a job working at Joann Fabrics over a year ago that my passion for crafts was found once again. I began sewing and joined etsy to sell zipper pouches and purses. Shortly after joining Etsy and creating a shop, I began to make jewelry and have been addicted since! I'm still learning but loving every minute of it and have a crazy obsession with the jewelry department of any store. Ha!

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Elizabeth: I probably literally only began making pouches a week or two before I opened my shop. I opened with only a few pouches listed, but became a regular in the etsy chat rooms and became friends with other etsians who showed me a whole other world of things i could also make, thus introducing me to jewelry making. I've been making jewelry since November of last year and you can really tell I've learned alot since then by looking at my sold items page!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Elizabeth: I had seen other shops using the name 'sew' in adorable ways and thought it was perfect for my shop since i was originally only planning to sell sewn items such as quilts, pouches, bags, etc. I pronounce it Sew Uh-more...but realized aftering googling it (and after having already made my shop) that the word amore should be pronounced uh-more-ray..haha oh well :)

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Elizabeth: I love being able to experiment with different ways of making each type of jewelry item and showing the world what I've created. With my jewelry pieces, it's nice to be able to freely create whatever comes to my mind, knowing it won't just sit around in my house somewhere. :) Also, I have a ton of fun when it comes to shipping out an item. It's like wrapping Christmas presents!

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

Elizabeth: I am pretty much inspired by nearly everything. Sometimes I'll see a cute top and can just imagine what sort of earrings would go great with it. Sometimes I'll be watching a tv show, see a pair of earrings on a character and think, "I could doll that up so much more!".

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Elizabeth: My favorite item is probably the Princess Peach necklace & earrings set. I love how its bright and fun, and super girlie!

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Elizabeth: I've just added adjustable button rings and stud earrings to my shop this week. I plan on having a huge selection (probably more than any other selection i currently have). It's super fun to make and i just love how they look.

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Elizabeth: Right now I am having a month long sale until Mothers Day (May 9th 2010) where you can save 15% on nearly everything in my shop. It excludes shipping and destash. It's a great deal if you purchase a bracelet & a pair of earrings from my shop in the same order, because you receive a free pair of earrings with your choice of color and you get to save even more when buying sets! :)

ME: Are there any other places on the net we that we can find you?

Elizabeth: You can find me on facebook, twitter, & blogspot. Following any of these sites is helpful to know when I am having sales, giveaways and when I add new items to my shop!

Please go check out Sew Amore! She has such cute things and I know there is something there you will fall in love with! Once I get a little bit of extra money, I'm probaby going to but one of her awesome pouches! A big thanks to Elizabeth for interviewing with me and sharing her wonderful shop with us!

Have you ever wondered...

Publish Date: December, 2009

Author: Ebony Haywood
Illustrated by: Bobbi Switzer

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ebony Haywood is a poet. In 1996, her poem, There Was Once a Potato, won first place in the Los Angeles branch of the NAACP ACT-SO poetry competition. She lives in Los Angeles, California, where she is currently working on her next book. She enjoys writing clever and humerous poetry in the tradition of her favorite authors,  Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein.

MY THOUGHTS
As you already know I have 2 boys ages 4 and 5. They LOVED this book! Everything was big and bright which kept their attention! Plus, the rhyming excited them. They are just starting to ask about things rhyming and this helped them out a lot. I read it the first time, and they automatically made me read it again!  Also, it was simple enough for them to understand the meaning of the book. I asked them what it was about and they were able to tell me without any trouble. The book had a really great message. It basically says not to fight, just work together. Having 2 boys, so close in age, this was great for them!

MY RATING
10/10
I found nothing to complain about!

BUY IT
The book can be found on Ebony's site, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble!

Sun Sauce Review & Giveaway

During the summer, my husband and I (the boys spend the summer with their dad :( ) spend the majority of our time at the lake. We own 2 jetskiis and love being on the water. Which means I spend a lot of time in a bikini. Well, winter has just come to an end and summer is creeping up. I have fair skin and my tan from last year has faded. In other words, I am now as white as a ghost...well, WAS as white as a ghost.

I had the opportunity to try Sun Sauce! I was sent a 12oz. bottle of their Sunless Lotion.

About the product:
Now you can enjoy a dark rich Tan without a need for UV light. This lotion will allow you to choose the intensity of your tan and to maintain the color level you have chosen. Applies easily and delivers exceptional results when used as directed. This is not a bronzer or a dye. Natural tan begins developing in 2 to 3 hours. If a darker tan is desired, reapply 3 to 4 hours after initial application.

I put in on yesterday when I got out of the shower. A little over an hour later, I was starting to see the color. By the time I woke up this morning, I could see a huge difference! The color it leaves is pretty natural looking. Not too orange like other sunless tanning products. The directions say to apply evenly over body and face, use sparingly on heels, ankles, knees and elbows. I did my best to make sure it was even. I had very little steaking. The only place I had a little streaking was on the back side of one of my arms. I must not have rubbed it around enough. The only other place I had an issue with was on one of my ankles. I tried to keep it off of my ankles, due to the directions telling me to, but I got some on there. Next time I'll be sure to be a little more careful.

Due to my fair skin, this is a great alternative for me. My family has a history of skin cancer (which I am starting to develope), so sunless tanning is the way I need to go. Sun Sauce smells nice, and works great. I would definitely recommend the product!
