Book Reviews: Penny & Rio & Giveaway

I had a wonderful opportunity to review 2 books written by Jennifer Swanson from her Penny & Rio series. My boys and I realy enjoyed reading these books together. These were the first books that I've read to them that had chapters. They loved that it had chapters because we would read a couple every night before bed, and they couldn't wait for the next night to see what happend next!

Jennifer based Penny & Rio off of 2 dogs that she owned. Guess what their names were. Ha, yup, Penny & Rio! Penny & Rio are always in search of adventure! Well, mostly Penny, but Rio steps in from time to time to help. My boys really loved that they were detectives! They usually run around the house saying that they are super agents, so they were totally into the mysteries in the books. Both books have won the Mom's Choice Awards, and I see why! I can't wait to see what happens next with those 2 loveable pups!

Penny & Rio: The Mysterious Backyard Meeting
Penny and Rio are two dogs who are complete opposites. enny is curious and always on the go, while Rio prefers a good nap. At their new house, Penny discovers that their backyard is the metting place for several different animals. Penny doesn't know why a cat, a groundhog, a squirrel, and an owl could possibly be meeting, but she knows she has to find out. She comes up with an ingenious plan for spying on them and discovers their plot. She has to stop them- but can she get her sister dog, Rio, to help her or will Rio decide that sleep is more important?
Follow along as these two pet detectives, Penny and Rio solve the first of many cases in Penny and Rio: The Mysterious Backyard Metting.

Penny & Rio: The Locked Doghouse Mystery
The crime-fighting dog duo of Penny and Rio are on the case again! Squeaky the mouse desperately needs thei help to recover his precious belongings from a locked doghouse next door. But will Hobbes, the Great Dane, who lives in the yard object? Through an inventive plan, the resourceful pair strive to solve this mystery. Can they recover Squeaky's belongings before the doghouse is destroyed? Follow along as the dynamic detectives, Penny and Rio, discover that they can do anyhing, as long as they work together.

EcoUsable Stainless Steel Water Bottle Review & Giveaway

I recieved a stainless steel water bottle from SproutBaby!

It is SO cute! It's orange with dinosaurs on it! My boys love it as well! We've been busy outside doing yard work. They've been taking turns clipping it to their belt loops and carrying it around with them. It's perfect for them. Here is a little information about this nifty little water bottle:

Description
EcoUsable's 10 oz. stainless steel water bottles are the perfect size for children, designed for small hands it's easier to hold than their larger bottle and comes in cute kid friendly patterns. Includes carabiner to attach to buckle, backpack, or handbag.

Each 10 oz. Stainless Steel Water Bottle is reusable, lightweight, and taste-neutral. It comes with a loop cap made from safe, non-leaching polypropylene and a color coordinated carabiner.

Why We Like This
Drinking fluids is essential in staying healthy and hydrated, but when plastic bottles end up in landfill or leech into the fluids they're holding, drinking up isn't so appealing. That's why stainless steel water bottles like these are so important to keep handy. They don't leech and they are reusable! Plus, at 10oz they're perfect for taking to school.

Features

•NEW Improved Design!
•Safe alternative to plastic
•High-quality food grade 304 L.N. stainless steel
•Durable, lightweight, reusable and 100% recyclable
•Slim design fits most cup/bottle holders
•Non-leaching & toxin-free
•No inner lining, clean tasting
•Non-slip base
•Holds 10 fluid ounces (295 ml)
•Measures 6" H x 2.56" W
•Weighs 3.5 ounces

Good stuff huh? Having this, my boys were happy to go out and do yard work, just so they could use it! Ha, but calm down, I'm not saying that every child will want to help with yard work if you get one of these. All I'm saying is that my boys REALLY loved theirs, and were anxious to use it! :)

Ima gonna be a busy bee!

Just a little FYI for this week:
The hubby is coming home! Haven't seen him in about a month. He will be here in about an hour! The boys don't know he's coming so it will be a good surprise! He will be here until Saturday or Sunday, then he's leaving again. :( But, while he's here, we are going to be VERY busy! I have to help him get everything in the backyard packed and cleaned up, then put in storage. Oh man, there is A LOT of stuff outside! *rolls eyes* Boys and their toys! Also, we are going to go look at the house we are moving into. Yes, we are already going to rent a house we've never seen. We'll I've seen a few pictures of it online. One of the guys that is stationed with my hubby is transfering and couldn't sell his house, so he's renting it to us! It's in a great neighborhood, it has everything we need, and it's down the street from one of our friends! Being a military wife, that's sooo important! Another thing is... tomorrow is my sons birthday!!! He'll be 5 years old! Wow, I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday! That's one of the main reasons the hubs is coming home! Sweet, I know! :) Once the hubs leaves, my mama is coming!! Yay! She'll be here for about 10 days helping me start packing up my house. I'm very excited, I haven't seen my mom since Christmas! Yay yay yay!! :)

So, as you can tell, I am going to be just a tiny bit busy! I'm going to do my best to get on here and write up a few reviews/giveaways. Soda Stream, Mom's Best Naturals, and a book review (all with giveaways) are a few coming up! So stay tuned, and don't worry, I'm still here!

Here's a picture of me and my hubby about a year ago!

Ecover Review & Giveaway

If you have boys living in your house like I do, then you know how dirty the bathroom gets! I have a 4 and 5 year old boy, who for obvious reasons have their own bathroom. Let's just say that little boys don't have the best aim. They just stand there, looking into the mirror, making faces at themselves. Then, I'm in the background saying, "Aim for the hole in the potty! Watch what you're doing!". Yeah, lots of fun. Cleaning that bathroom is always a chore. Not to mention the toothpaste all over the sink and counter. I've used a lot of different cleaners, and they all seem to leave a little hint of urine in the air. Not good! Sunday is my cleaning day and yesterday I got my Ecover products delivered for review. Perfect timing! I recieved a bottle of bathroom cleaner, and a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner.

Bathroom Cleaner:
1. Tough on bathroom grime
2. Chrome friendly
3. Fresh plant based fragrance
Used for showers, tile, taps, tubs, & sinks! I used it for everything in my bathroom. Even on the floor! It cleaned so well and left the bathroom smelling wonderful. To me, it had a citrus smell. Completely eliminated the urine smell! It's made from plant and mineral based ingredients and it's safe for septic tanks! I have a septic tank, so that's wonderful for me! Plus, a little bit goes a long way. I used 3 sprays for the whole sink and counter.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
1. Triple action: cleans, decalcifies, and freshens
2. Removes tough stains
3. Leaves bowl sanitary
This is also plant and mineral based and safe for septic tanks. Plus, it's safe for all river and marine life! I put it in my toilet and let it sit while I cleaned the sink. There has been a ring in the toilet since we moved in because this house used to have well water. Now, it didn't completely remove the ring, but it did lighten it. Once I scrubbed it with the brush, the water in the toilet was visibly dirty! Wow, I didn't think it was that dirty, being that I clean it A LOT! It did a great job, and I think it can stand up to couple little boys! :)

Ecover has more than just bathroom cleaners. They offer products for dishwashing, laundry, household, personal care, and even products for your car and boat! Ecover produces their washing and cleaning products in an ecological, economic and socially responsible way in a unique ecological factory.

My overall impression was good. I loved the smell and I loved the way it worked. I didn't see any downfalls as of yet. One thing I would like to see from the company is biodegradable wipes for the bathroom and/or kitchen. I like to use wipes when it comes to cleaning the outside of the toilet. Using a wash cloth/paper towel just doesn't cut it for me.

~Win it~
Ecover is offering one of my readers the chance to win the bathroom cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner that I reviewed. Plus, they are going to throw in a reusable grocery bag!
