Etsy Shop: A Lucky Horse Shoe Review & Giveaway

I absolutely LOVE vinyl wall art! It's a great way to make your walls pop! They are super easy to put up and take down. I had a few here at my house, but had to take them down being that we are moving. I have one waiting to go up at the new house and can't wait to get more. They just add so much to a room and they look great!

I found a wonderful Etsy shop that sells very inexpensive vinly wall art! A Lucky Horse Shoe! After talking to the shop owner, I am truley impressed! She is only 13 years old! That's awesome that she has started a buisness so young! She is saving the money from her shop for college! That should be motivation for all of us moms to get out there and do what we love. It's never too late (or early in this case) to make a life for yourself!

Not only is she juggling school, parents, and a shop, but she's also an avid horse lover! I love horses too so I know how she feels. A portion of all sales are donated to Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation. A Non-profit 501 c3 charity. Also, she just became a provider of decals for Washington State Horsemen organization. See what I mean about being impressed!? She is like the 'golden child'! Her parents must be super proud!

There are 10 pages of wonderful vinyl walll are in her shop. That's a lot to choose from! She is also selling a few photographs and drawings. There is literally something for everyone and every room. It would take you a long time to browse through the shop and find just one thing that you love. I love all of them! No way could I just pick one! :)

Etsy Shop: The Storia Project Review

You guys should know by now how much I love Etsy shope! ;) I found another shop that I just had to feature on here. The Storia Project! The shop owner, Naomi, has very neat and stylish items! Trucker hats, cuffs, waist belts, purses, and sacks can all be found there! With all the warm weather we are having (at least here), Naomi's shop will get your summer off to a great and stylish start!

If you hurry and get overe there now, she is having a HUGE sale! All hats are 25% ioff until May 1st! That's only $18 a hat! That's awesome! If you go to a huge chain store you will be paying about $35 for one. Talk about a deal! She also has a few belts at 20% off along with free domestic US shipping for select hats!

NOW is the time to go to The Storia Project and place an order! You don't want to pass theses deals up!

This is one of the purses. I really love this one! Super cute!
-Cotton black and white polka dot print outer lining

-Purple satin inner lining.
-Tie strap is vintage and hand-made with 100% silk in Japan. Classic paisley print with complimenting colors to the purse itself. Tie it in a knot at the top or bottom to create different looks.

The "La Edith" satin purse from Storia is refined and elegant with specially chosen color combinations to match the vintage necktie that ties where you chose to make an adjustable shoulder strap.

"La Edith" purses are best used for special occasions as the silk/satin/sheer fabrics are rather delicate. Each purse is sewn by hand and specially designed to withstand light to medium weights. Throw the contents of your purse in and spice up your outfit on an ordinary day or take it out on the town and wear something special! These purses make excellent gifts; you can never have too many bags...

Now on to the interview. I really enjoy this interview because she did a great job answering the questions!

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Naomi: I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska. I grew up there and then moved to Italy when I was 17 and have been back and forth between the two ever since! I was only supposed to be in Italy for four months the first time, but I quickly felt an inner tug toward the Eternal City (Rome) and decided to stay for university. After studying art history I was set to go to grad school in California, but decided last minute to stay in Rome a second time and start working. Then, after working in different fields during my first year out of college, I made up my mind to start creating clothing accessories.

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Naomi: My decision to start making accessories stemmed from two main driving forces. First, I had always created my own jewelry growing up. I was always decorating, modifying my clothing, and finding new ways to wear old clothes. I was an artsy type of kid who was always writing poetry, drawing, painting, and re-organizing my room. Creating a line of items available to an outside clientele was just the next step. Second, I was focused on creating work for myself and being self-employed. I’ve loved almost all my prior work experiences, but, by my nature, I found myself constantly thinking, “I could do this myself” or “I know a better way to do this.” Add that curious initiative to my creative streak and there you have my shop: The Storia Project.

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Naomi: It was actually a very natural selection and now that I think of it I can’t even remember exactly how “Storia” came about. As you can read on my website, “Storia” is a feminine Italian noun and means “a story”, or “a history”. In more colloquial contexts “Storia” can mean both of these, but in a more grand way, almost “an adventure.” These meanings fit very well not only with the look of the first pieces I was creating, but also with the spirit of the whole endeavor. I wanted to contribute to people’s lives in an intimate and personal, but also subtle and non-intrusive way. I wanted to create pieces that exuded fun and spontaneity.

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Naomi: There are so many wonderful aspects to my job. It would be hard to pinpoint my absolute favorite, but one that definitely comes to mind is the possibility to be creative every day without limits. Unfortunately the administrative duties far exceed my creative duties almost every day, but in the end I know that if I stop thinking of new ideas and new designs and new solutions there will be no products and my shop will fail. So, even though that may seem like a high-pressure situation, I like the idea of my creativity being the lifeline of my operation. It’s far different from depending on my typing speed or something boring like that in order to keep an office job of which I’m ultimately not in control.

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

Naomi: Why thank you, Cara! So many things inspire me. My background in art history definitely helps me think of new designs and new approaches to new designs. Also, splitting my adult years between two of the most beautiful places in the world (Alaska & Italy) has had a great affect on me. I can’t think of two places so infinitely breathtaking, but ultimately opposite as these two parts of the world. I love dichotomies, contrasts, ideas and themes and plans that “shouldn’t work.” All of these ideas and outside influences end up manifesting themselves in my accessories. It’s kind of like what my brain metabolizes all my thoughts into… and they’re all for sale too!

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Naomi: Currently, I am loving the new “La Edith” bags that just came out as well as the upcycled t-shirt sacks. I’ve just re-taught myself to sew so it’s been exciting to use that skill and create these fun, color-coordinated, interchangeable bags. Upcycling is fascinating to me and I am currently looking to produce other upcycled products. The idea of turning something old into something new and giving it a new meaning, a new personality, even a new life just blows me away.

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Naomi: On that note, yes, I hope to add more upcycled and sewn products to my shop in the very near future. I’m also developing a screen printed line and am really interested in doing different types of leatherwork. I’m a bit “all over the place” and it seems like every day I think of ten million new ideas for products and designs. I just can’t do it all fast enough! It’s unfortunate that I’m a human being and actually have to sleep every once in a while.

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Naomi: I’d like to say that I do it all on my own, but it’s just not true. I could never have even gotten through the first few months of designing trucker hats if my boyfriend, Federico, hadn’t encouraged me and believed in my inner artist. He plays the role of corporate shrink/graphic designer for Storia. Also, my family back in Alaska has been very supportive of my flighty and impulsive business moves. They put little pressure on me to do anything but what keeps me cheerful and active (and pays my student loans). Mama always said, “success is simply being happy and productive at the same time.”

ME: Are there any other places on the net that we can find you?

Naomi: There is, of course, my website: www.thestoriaproject.com as well as my Etsy shop: thestoriaproject.etsy.com. Also Storia has a facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Storia-Project/94626495052 and Twitter: @storiaproject. We’re everywhere!

A BIG thanks to Naomi at The Storia Project for answering all of my questions! It was a pleasure getting to know the person behind the shop. You have a wonderful shop and your work is FANTASTIC!

Etsy Shop: Turn Me On Art Review & Giveaway

I've seen a few switch plate covers over the years. I always thought it was a great idea! I always wanted one, but never really saw any that I liked enough. Then I ran across the Etsy shop, Turn Me On Art. I started looking through the selection and fell in love with the wonderful work! I then contacted the shop owner, Nancy, to see if she would like to work with me. Lucky for us, she agreed, and I am beyond thrilled to share her work with you!

These switch plates are fantastic! Nancy offers single, double, and triple switch plates! There is something for everyone, and every room! All the work is her own, and I have to say, she is very talented! My favorite are her Alice in Wonderland switch plates! Too cute! Another great thing about her shop is that if you buy a switch plate, get it, put it up, and it does't fit or you don't like it, she will gladly refund you money! Now that's good customer service! There have been plenty of times I have gotten something home and didn't like it. I eiher don't want to go through the hassel of trying to return it, or they wont take it back. From me being in contact with Nancy, I can tell you that she is very easy to get a hold of. She is such a sweetheart, and I'd recommend her, and her work, to ANYBODY!

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Nancy: My father spent 32 years in the Air Force which means I'm from every where. However, most of the time was spent overseas. My father requested to be stationed in the Far East because of my mother heritage (she was born and raised in Japan). We lived in Okinawa from 1964-1976 and then from 1976-1985 was spent in Japan. You'll notice that a lot of my switch plate designs have an Asian influence.

Gotta love those that support our military! :)

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Nancy: I started making my plates a couple of years ago but was very nervous and insecure about selling them to the public. And it was only recent that I started selling them to the public. A dear friend suggested Etsy as an easy way of selling my switch plate cover's . Next thing I knew, I was setting up shop on Etsy and very surprised at how many people were interested in my plates. Since I've built a lot of confidence in my work and self.

I believe it, they are amazing!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Nancy: My husband came up with my shop name.

A supportive husband! Can't beat that!

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Nancy: Having a shop on Etsy is sooooo convenient but I really, really love being able to wake up when I want to. By nature I am more nocturnal so I do work into the wee hours of the night.

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?

Nancy: My life experiences inspire a lot of my pieces.

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Nancy: My favorite item would be....Alice in Wonderland. Very nostalgic

Hey! Those are my favorite too!

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Nancy: Eventually, I hope to add some of my oil painting into my shop...

Ooooh, I bet those will be nice too!

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Nancy: that's it :o)

Hehe, ok! :)

ME: Are there any other places on the net that we can find you?

Nancy: You can find me on Etsy or Twitter. My shop name is TurnMeOnArt! Thank YOU!

Wag's Creations Review & Giveaway

I am thrilled to introduce y'all (yes,I'm southern) to Wag's Creations! I've been in contact with Susan, one of the owners, and she sent me the most wonderful gift! It's a book frame! Most people have never heard of book frames before. I certainly hadn't. I've heard of hiding things in books, but this is totally different!

Susan asked me what my favorite book was. I told her that as a child I loved to read Go, Dog. Go! by Dr. Suess. I just recently introduced the book to my boys and they love it as well. I didn't know what to expect. Then, she sent me pictures of the final results. Boy was I amazed!

This book frame is seriously one of the cutest, most creative things I've ever seen! It's well made, and you can tell she put a lot of work and love into it! I haven't put a picture in yet. Since we are in the middle of moving, all my pictures are packed up. :( As soon as we get to the new house and I get to the pictures, one is going in and this is going on my mantle! I know when my friends start coming over, they are going to gush over the book frame! I can't wait to show it off, and direct them to Susan! You can find a few of her book frames HERE.

Wag's Creations have a HUGE variety of handmade goodies! Everything from coasters and letters, to necklaces and crosses! There is literally something for everyone! The items are also so inexpensive! I told my mom to go check out the crosses because she collects them. So pretty!

About Wag's Creations
It is our goal to create gifts that are fun to give and get, as well as offer reasonably priced ways to decorate your home and capture your memories.

The name came from my black labrador retriever, Harrison. I'd affectionaly nicknamed him "Wags" because he would often lay in the floor in my craft room and just wag his tail. Since he is a rescue dog, that is one of the greatest feelings of satisfaction, seeing and hearing his tail wag, because that means he is happy here with us and that we are providing a good life for him. Likewise, I get a similar feeling of satisfaction when I can deliver a customized item to a client and they are equally as happy.

I totally respect anybody who has rescued an animal! Both of our family dogs were both rescued and I wouldn't have it any other way! I love the story behind the name of the shop! It's always nice to hear how a shop name came to be.

If you are liking what you are hearing and seeing, I STRONGLY urge you to go to Wag's Creations, look around and place an order. I was FAR from disappointed, and I'm sure you won't be either!

You can also find Susan on Etsy! Go HERE to visit her shop!

Etsy Shop: Pagan Cellar Jewelry & Giveaway

Here lately, I have becoming more 'girly'. I've always been girly, just a little more simple. I've really gotten into jewelry. Usually I only wear one pair of earrings, and one necklace. Only changing every once in a while. I've now discovered that it's so much fun changing around jewelry! Yeah, yeah, I'm a little behind. Tell me something I don't know...

I ran across Pagan Cellar Jewelry on Etsy. Goodness! Such pretty pieces AND in my budget! Woohoo! LOVE it! I contacted the shop owner (Bill), and here I am writing up a well deserved review! I was send a very nice pair of earrings.

These are the earrings I got and me wearing them! They are very well made, and don't bother my ears at all. Plus, they are green which is my favoite color!

ME: Where are you from and a little about yourself?

Bill: I am from Chicago, IL. I make jewelry, soaps and greeting cards. But My biggest passion is Photography. www.facebook.com/billguestphoto

ME: When did you start making the items in your shop?

Bill: I have been making jewelry for over 5 years, I opened this shop on Etsy Oct 2008. I had my soap shop since 2007!

ME: How did you decide the name for your shop?

Bill: Well Its a carry over from my other shop www.pagancellar.etsy.com where I had various oils, soaps and also did tarot card readings. I kept the name because of the high number of sales I already had and the great feedback! I also carry a small section of pagan items like pendulums, I am a member of the paganteam as well.

ME: What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?

Bill: The best thing is making and meeting new friends! I love hanging in the chats and chatting! I also love being my own boss and making and listing as i want and need to.

ME: What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?
Bill: I watch alot of tv shows and see pieces I would love to try to emulate. Which colors are in style, who is wearing what shapes and colors. Whether its gold, silver or antiqued metals that are in right now, etc. I also get inspiration from the wide variety of Vintage pieces I own or sell. Vintage is in.

ME: What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Bill: My brown beaded choker. This piece took a good amount of time to make, and I used some vintage pieces for inspiration. It reminds me of something worn in the Flapper days. I just adore it.

ME: Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?

Bill: I am working more and more with Silver and making rings. I have a few rings but i want more. Everyone loves wearing rings and I think that is a new direction for me since I mostly do earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

ME: Anything else you would like to let us know?

Bill: That in addition to jewelry and vintage, I LOVE handmade soaps. that is how i got started with etsy and my shop will be full again soon. I just opened a Brick and mortar Boutique in my downtown area and alot of my items are there until i make more!

www.facebook.com/daisyscorner is my new place. I will never leave Etsy because it helped me to get where I am today!

ME: Are there any other places on the net we that we can find you?

Bill:  www.facebook.com/pagancellar
